millet cereal
I think millet is my new favorite whole grain. Besides being gluten-free, it is not as boring as oatmeal. I should eat more oatmeal but I am kind of sick of it. Here is a delicious whole grain alternative.
Millet Cereal
serves 2
1/2 cup millet
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 to 1/2 cup cow/goat/almond/rice/breast or whatever type milk you [...]

clean sink
I found out that I can watch old episodes of “How Clean Is Your House?” on youtube! I am so excited because it is my absolute favorite show. All the episodes are great and usually have good outcomes with the occasional ungrateful slob. Kim and Aggie always give tips on *natchurel* cleaners, which is always [...]

chicken
Ok I am so excited. I made something in the crockpot that didn’t suck!!!!! I cooked a whole chicken with this recipe from the crockpot blog. I didn’t peel the skin off–that part is totally weird. I also added a bunch more garlic too. I didn’t overcook it this time, and now we have a [...]

pumpkins
M drew the big eyes. Aren’t they cute? Sadly we had to get rid of them rather quickly since mold makes my asthma flare up. I’ll have to go to JoAnn’s for the after-Halloween sale to pick up more fake tea lights! They are perfect for carved pumpkins.

another one?
There was another fatal car accident here in San Mateo this morning. The traffic has been backed up in front of our apartment since 7am because the main road is closed. It looks like there were 3 vehicles involved, and the taxi driver didn’t make it. So sad. This is about a block [...]

two more pairs
I have finally figured out that it is easier to sew stuff assembly line style. Cut cut cut, iron iron iron, pin pin pin, sew sew sew. And then all of a sudden when you are finished with your project, you magically have two more. I should do that more often!

quinoa
I’ve cooked quinoa before, but not on a regular basis. I will have to add this to the rotation since it is so healthy, and everyone liked eating it. I cooked it with olive oil, onions, garlic, black pepper, thyme, and swiss chard. I also used some chicken broth in place of the water, since [...]
