happy easter
Oh my god this creature is so CUTE! Total PITA to knit and sew on all those little parts but it is just darling. Dd gets mad when I turn it ino the egg shape so it mostly hangs around as a chicken. It makes a great hand puppet.
I found some bamboo fiberfill at JoAnn’s [...]

an FO and more stuff
After procrastinating for MONTHS, I finally bit the bullet and ordered a zipper for dd’s tomten. Just in time since this trip to Colorado is probably the most use it will see in it’s lifetime (unless I have another girl). Well it wouldn’t be too bad on a little boy, I guess. First of all, [...]

3 day quilt
In a fit of insanity, I decided to make a quilt for a last minute wedding gift. What better book to consult than Last-Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts? I chose “six of one, a half-dozen of the other” on page 81 since it looked like the most simple thing to make. The title makes no [...]

playdough
Dd is always asking for playdough and we never seem to have any in the house. Usually I find it on the floor, dried to bits. Today I decided to get off my lazy butt and make some with her. Here is our basic playdough recipe:
Mix:
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
Mix:
1 c. [...]

groceries
Last week’s grocery bill was a little over $160. We ate out for lunch one day because one of my appointments ran late (grrr for people with no concept of time), but other than that everything was consumed at home! Good think K works close to the apt, I can never seem to make his [...]

friday/saturday
Don’t forget to change your clocks today for daylight savings–
On Friday we ate balsamic chicken breasts with spinach and cannelini beans. The recipe is in Express Meals but you can find it here. I don’t use garlic in my cooking these days just because the smell is so strong and seems to linger on clothes and skin which [...]

Black Beans and Rice Stoup/bell peppers/lettuce
After the most craptastic midwife appt of my life, I was almost ready to just pack it in and not cook dinner yet again. But I perservered and Rachael Ray pulled me through.
This recipe is from Express Lane Meals but it’s pretty similar to this recipe from her website, without [...]

wednesday
Ok I think I figured out why I am spending so much on groceries. I’m just making too much damn food! I guess I just haven’t transitioned into cooking for 3–when living with my parents I just made 6 servings and then the food would be gone. So today was leftovers and tomorrow I’ll make [...]

Linguine with Red Clam Sauce/Sardine Spread on Bell Peppers/Lettuce
Today we had an easy pasta dinner, a nice break after yesterday’s roasted chicken. I used a recipe from Rachael Ray’s Express Lane Meals but there are a ton of free ones on the internet, like this one. I melted a piece of sardine in the olive [...]

FO: matching capelets
I finished the little matching capelets for the girls to wear at the wedding. Hopefully they will match with the dresses, if not they are cute to wear with regular clothes! I had picked another cardigan pattern but it was taking forever and I didn’t like the gauge I was getting, so I did this [...]
